Friday, July 24, 2009

Keighley is celebrating Yorkshire Day on the 1st August with music, food, fashion and entertainment.

The new Yorkshire Ridings flag will fly over the parish church while below on Church Green there will be live music and chance to dance away the afternoon to the sounds of the Dixie Dudes.

For those who want to show their Yorkshire pride, Yorkshire passports can be obtained from the town hall. Getting these signed on Yorkshire Day by the Mayor or Town Crier, on Church Green, will allow you to receive a free cream tea.

Anyone who finds the Town Crier somewhere in town and produces an information flyer (available from the Town Hall, Library and retail outlets across town)  will be entitled to a replica White Rose .

Cavendish Court will be holding their Big Summer Event with a fashion show, appearances by Freddie Cougar, Dance displays from High Energy, creaft stalls and displays.

The Store on Cavendish Street will host a Yorkshire Day Tea Party with unique handmade Yorkshire products for sale.

In the Airedale Shopping Centre there will be a day of children's entertainment called Fun & Treasure with a chance to win cash in a back to school treasure hunt.
