Buy Local
Thursday, November 12, 2009
Graham Benn of DIY Solutions on Cavendish Street is the winner of the Keighley Town Centre Association’s latest window display competition.
Businesses across the town took part in a competition to see who could provide the most interesting display based on the theme Love Keighley – Buy Local. Keighley Town Centre Association supported the competition following the success of the Love Keighley Valentines Day competition in February.
Entrants were required to either dress their business window or provide a display on a notice board, allowing them to show their artistic side and at the same time promote their business.
A team of judges lead by town mayor Cllr Margaret Ward visited businesses to review the entries and found a high standard of display. Eye catching, bold and inventive were some of the comments from the judging panel.
The results were very close but the overall winner was DIY Solutions Ltd with runners up The Flower Shop on North Street and My-Guardian-Angel-and Me at The Store on Cavendish Street. Mr Benn was presented with his winner’s trophy by Keighley Mayor Cllr Margaret Ward together with Town Centre Manager Philip Smith.
Why not praise your local businesses. Write to the Association telling them who you consider to be your favourite. It might be the level of service you receive, the attractive shop window or simply that it is the most convenient for you to shop at. Whatever your reason, why not let us know.
