Keighley Green Trail

The Keighley Green Trail seeks professional creative people working in varying disciplines for an empty shop initiative in Keighley. In a nutshell, The Keighley Green Trail is an empty shop project, partnering an artist and local green organisation who will work together to create an engaging and creative display to communicate environmental messages.  A pavement trail and booklet will tie up these window displays to create further public engagement and encourage participation, bringing some creative life to Keighley Town Centre.  Six very prominent town centre empty shops (some quite large spaces) have been secured and more are being finalised. The window themes are:·        How does recycling work?·        What is renewable energy?·        How to be green at home – save energy / water·        Ecology – the importance of·        Did You Know – Keighley green stats & Facts·        Growing your own Artists, designers and makers are encouraged to apply, particularly visual artists, illustrators, textile artists, graphic designers, mixed media and environmental artists.  Also, a sense of humour, innovation and thinking outside the box is ideally sought for. It is anticipated each artist will spend approx 21 hrs on their creations over the duration of the project. A reasonable set fee is offered and a materials budget will also be given – although all participants are to use recycled and reusable materials where practical. Submission Details:Applicants must submit:·        short statement about what you would do with the space and how you would do it (200 word max) plus any sketches you’d like to include with the statement·        CV·        6 images of previous / current workDeadline: Friday 17 SeptemberNote: This project is on a very tight timescale and as soon as artist selection has been made, artists will hit the ground running!  The Green Trail is to start on 23 October.
