This month (September 2010) sees the 15th anniversary of the founding of Bradford based internet marketing consultancy and KTCA member Eagle Intermedia Publishing Ltd.
Having originally been set up back in 1995 by CERN trained physicist Dr. Roger Poultney to provide scientific information services to the international high energy physics community, Eagle Intermedia quickly diversified, becoming involved in much broader internet marketing activities on behalf of commercial businesses and other organisations.
Today the company has an expansive client base, but has developed a special interest in local tourism through the ongoing development of its well established Yorkshire tourist information websites (which include sites covering Bradford, Haworth and the wider Bronte Country area, the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors, and the Yorkshire Coast, etc.).
Says Roger: "Looking back quite a lot has changed since the company launched back in 1995 - particularly regarding general interest in the internet. At the start I can literally remember having to explain to some clients what the internet was (as well as how it could help them get more business), but things have obviously come on a long way in terms of awareness since then. We've seen the “dot-com” boom and various fads come and go, but one thing that has remained consistent throughout has been the continuing importance of search engine marketing and link building as cost effective means of bringing in visitors (and hence business) to any particular client's website.
"Over the last fifteen years Eagle Intermedia has been able to help literally hundreds of businesses promote all sorts of different products and services using these kinds of methods, as well as other forms of online promotion. I'm also proud that the company has contributed to the local economy in raising the profile of Bradford and other parts of Yorkshire at home and abroad through the cumulative success of its popular local tourist information websites."
In 2004 Roger was awarded TMB accreditation (a government backed scheme devised to provide quality assurance for clients seeking IT related business advice), and Eagle Intermedia has worked in close cooperation with various business support organisations (including ATL and Bradford Kickstart, Business Link, and Tyro Training at Craven College) to help local businesses and other organisations gain a better understanding of the main issues relating to building an effective online presence.
